June 2023 Newsletter Mastering the fundamentals will bring success

May 30, 2023 11:32 am Published by Comments Off on June 2023 Newsletter Mastering the fundamentals will bring success

Mastering the fundamentals will bring success   If you asked me to name just one reason I have been successful during my 40-year career, I would tell you it was because I mastered the fundamentals. (By the way, that is a never-ending journey.) I didn’t do anything fancy or rely on special software or technology. I just focused on the old-fashioned basics and fundamentals.     “Success is neither magical or mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.” – Jim Rohn     When I started Deeb Realty (now Nebraska Realty) out of my 250-sq-ft basement, I focused on the core necessities of building a business and a career. (The fact that my drive, desire, and determination were off the charts didn’t hurt, either!)   I highly recommend writing down a list of the fundamental things you will need to do each day to accomplish your specific goals. If your job involves sales or service, your list may look something like this: Schedule time to make calls to current customers. Schedule time to make cold calls to prospective customers. Write five handwritten notes. Take ten minutes to learn something new in your industry. Mastering the fundamentals is crucial for everybody, no matter what line of work they are in. The most successful people in the business world and in every other area of life never stop putting time and effort into mastering the fundamentals.   Just about every successful person I have ever met who...

May 2023 Newsletter You can make a difference

May 2023 Newsletter You can make a difference   When somebody looks you in the eye and says, “You made a difference today,” how does it make you feel?   No matter how many times this has happened to me, I still get a lift from hearing that my words or actions had a positive impact on someone else. I believe that when we get up in the morning, one of our objectives should be to make a difference in someone’s life.   When you decide to make a difference, you are showing what is important to you. Most of the time it will mean making an extra effort to be kind to everyone you see or talk with during the course of your day. If you practice kindness on a daily basis, it will become part of who you are. You won’t even need to think about being kind, because that’s just the way you treat everyone.     “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” — Jane Goodall   I specialize in supporting the personal and professional development of people who are in sales and service roles or leadership positions. One of the most rewarding aspects of motivational speaking is that it gives me an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of my listeners. I get to be an outside voice that inspires them to become the best possible version of themselves.   When...

November 2022 Newsletter The truth will set you free

November 1, 2022 8:10 pm Published by Comments Off on November 2022 Newsletter The truth will set you free

The truth will set you free   How many times have you heard someone say, ”The truth will set you free”? Probably more times than you could count. It’s even in the Bible! John 8:32 says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” This statement is also commonly heard in academic settings.   When you hear “The truth will set you free,” what does it mean to you? It will most likely mean something different to each of us.   If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change   Today I would like to relate this statement to business. When I think about it in this context, “The truth will set you free” means that I should be true to myself and not try to be something I am not. In my 40-year business career, I have not always been true to myself. I thought I was good at every aspect of being a business owner, leader, and salesperson. I was not good at everything, however, and at some point in my life I realized it. I could have been a much better CEO and a much better salesperson if I had admitted that I needed to work on certain skills. As I get older, I have become a lot more comfortable admitting to myself that I am not good at everything. The truth did set me free, and it has been liberating to feel okay...

I enjoyed your seminar and its focus. I was on the fence whether or not to attend and decided why not? I could have sat through an all day session if there was one, usually I end up at the seminars that start with a focus and quickly go astray. I found with yours time flew by too fast and it was already time to go but I wasn’t ready to go.”
