February 2019 newsletter Nebraska needs Coach Scott Frost like you need…

February 1, 2019 1:48 pm Published by Comments Off on February 2019 newsletter Nebraska needs Coach Scott Frost like you need…

This past year has been pretty exciting for Nebraska football fans. Regardless of the win-loss numbers, Nebraskans are beaming with joy because they know their team will have a bright future under the guidance of the University of Nebraska’s new football coach, Scott Frost. Why? Because Coach Frost is a proven winner and a class act.   If Nebraska’s football team needed Coach Frost to better their future, what do you need to better yours? A coach or personal consultant can help you reach the top of your game, just as Coach Frost is helping Nebraska’s football players reach their full potential.     “A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment.”  – John Wooden      Coach Frost has earned his wings and then some to lead Nebraska’s team back to college football glory. He started at the bottom, working all over the country until he accomplished his way back to his home state and school. What would your career and life look like if you had someone guiding you who had started at the bottom of your industry and worked their way to the top? If you decide that working with a coach or personal consultant might be right for you, then choose wisely. The person who will coach you into your future glory should be someone who started in the trenches and worked his way up.   Another reason Nebraska needs Coach Frost is that he drinks the water, he knows the lay of...

January 2019 newsletter       Why Am I Awesome? Because I Said So!

December 27, 2018 10:45 am Published by Comments Off on   January 2019 newsletter       Why Am I Awesome? Because I Said So!

Why Am I Awesome? Because I Said So!   Are you awesome yet? All of us can become awesome if we want to. We each have the capacity to be whatever we desire IF we do whatever is necessary to get there.   God didn’t create any slackers. When you were born, he didn’t say, “You, my little child, will grow up to be less than average and your life will be no fun.” I believe he has high expectations for each of us. We were born to become kings and queens, presidents of companies, business owners, top sales people and service providers. We were made to be AWESOME… period!   I will always be grateful that I received abundant love and attention from my parents while I was growing up. I am also grateful that they allowed me to start working at a very young age mowing yards and shoveling driveways. I had my first real job at age 14, working as a dishwasher at Big Fred’s Pizza in Omaha, Nebraska.   As I became older it became evident that my family and friends didn’t expect a lot from me and I certainly gave them good reasons to feel that way. If Attention Deficit Disorder had been a thing back then, I could have been the poster child. That probably had something to do with the fact that I got...

December 2018 Newsletter: Play the Percentages in 2019

November 19, 2018 5:54 pm Published by Comments Off on December 2018 Newsletter: Play the Percentages in 2019

If you’re like most goal-oriented people, you are looking forward to the new year. You are getting excited about making 2019 THE YEAR for you personally and for your career. Want to get there faster? You can do it by playing the percentages. In order to do this successfully, you will have to be 100% honest with yourself. Having a discipline is the bridge between setting goals and accomplishing them On your way home from work tomorrow, ask yourself how much effort you put forth that day. Remember, be honest! Then do the same thing the next day and the next day and so on until you have five days’ worth of self-analyzed numbers. Maybe on Monday you gave 75% of your maximum potential effort, Tuesday 60%, Wednesday 80%, and so on. Figure out your average percentage for those five days. Now ask yourself what you could have accomplished if you had given 5, 10, 15, or 20% more effort. Reaching your goals in 2019 will become much easier if you gradually increase the amount of effort you put forth. If you discipline yourself to add 5% to your normal efforts in January, 10% in February, 15% in March, and so on, you will become much more productive and have a more positive attitude about your abilities. Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone in 2019 by exploring new, fun ways to achieve your goals Staying on track will be easier if you share your commitment with your significant other,...

November 2018 Newsletter: Will They Remember You?

October 22, 2018 10:01 pm Published by Comments Off on November 2018 Newsletter: Will They Remember You?

The next time you go on a sales or service call, make sure you are memorable! Don’t leave any of yourself on the table. Give it all you have! When I think about the importance of being memorable, it reminds me of a scene in one of my favorite movies, Remember the Titans. In this scene, the team members make a unified decision to up their level of play and to become memorable. Every time I watch that part of the movie, it gives me chills. We all have the ability every single day to up our level of play, to be better than we were yesterday, to make sure our customers know WE WERE THERE! That type of attitude, my friends, will get you the deal more times than not. Have the attitude that no one can compete with what you can do for your customers The next time you’re talking with a prospective customer, be sure to make strong, bold statements that will make them remember you. No matter whether you are talking with them in person or on the phone, you must have the attitude that failure is not an option. Your goal is to make that person want to do business with you. Stay laser-focused and attentive; never interrupt them. Listen more than you talk, and when you do talk, make strong, bold statements like these: I will make that happen. I am the right person for this job. No one in my industry can compete...

August 2018 Newsletter: How Big is Your “WANT TO”?

July 28, 2018 1:26 pm Published by Comments Off on August 2018 Newsletter: How Big is Your “WANT TO”?

How Big is Your “WANT TO”?   Asking the question “How big is your ‘want to’?” is exactly the same as asking “How much do you want it?” Maybe you want to be a better student, a better athlete, a better husband or wife, a better parent or child. The intensity of your “want to” will determine your success in any of those roles. However, today I am asking you to consider the question “How big is your ‘want to’?” in terms of what you want to achieve in your career. When I think of my career, I relate this question to how hungry I am to succeed and how passionate I am about accomplishing everything I set out to do. There is no magic formula for achieving what you want. Instead, it’s a combination of believing in yourself and believing that you deserve whatever your “want” is.  I challenge you to apply the following eight principles to ensure that your “want to”will be firmly embedded in your mind, heart, and soul. 1. Begin each day believing that something really good is going to happen to you. When you believe that good things are coming your way today, they are more likely to happen. Try talking to yourself in the mirror every morning and telling yourself what you expect to happen in your life today. Don’t be shy… you don’t bite! I like to look in the mirror in the morning and tell myself how productive I will be, because...

July 2018 Newsletter: “You matter to me”: Praise is FREE

June 25, 2018 12:26 pm Published by Comments Off on July 2018 Newsletter: “You matter to me”: Praise is FREE

Nothing is more important than making people feel like they matter, and the best way to do it is to give praise when it’s warranted. When people have this mindset, everybody wins. If our actions or words don’t tell people how important they are to us, they will never know how we feel. We should be constantly thinking of ways to make our customers, managers, employees, coworkers (and basically everyone else we’re in contact with) feel like they matter to us. This can be done with simple words or actions. Praising someone doesn’t cost us a dime, yet it can be costly if we don’t do it. Did you know that 55% of employees would leave their current job if they had a chance to work for a company that recognizes its workers? Praise is one of the most powerful things a leader can bring to their firm. When it is delivered well (and well-deserved), praise gives people the drive and motivation to continue doing top-quality work. “One of the sweetest of all sounds in business is praise for a job well done” Life is short, and I believe we should take advantage of every opportunity to make people feel validated and important to us. When my firm had 350 coworkers, customers used to call me for all kinds of reasons. On rare occasions they needed to complain about their agent, but mostly they wanted to commend them and brag about how great it was to do business with them....

I enjoyed your seminar and its focus. I was on the fence whether or not to attend and decided why not? I found with yours time flew by too fast and it was already time to go but I wasn’t ready to go.”
