How to ask your way to success
You are inspired to succeed, you are motivated to accomplish your goals, you are driven and determined to live a lifestyle that you dream about. Well, believe it or not, you are already halfway there! Having a positive attitude will get you the results you want at some point in your life. However, you can GET THERE QUICKER and accomplish your goals sooner by learning how to ASK for what you want. This statement is based on my own experience. Not only have I learned how to ask, but during my storied career I mastered the art of Asking!
Your passion for what you do convinces people to do business with you.
I did not grow up privileged or mentored to be a successful sales person or business owner. Most of my immediate family members were teachers, so I had no entrepreneurs or business people to learn from. I had to figure out this “wanna be a huge success” thing on my own, and I did. I learned that whatever I want out of life I can have by creating a disciplined work ethic and also learning how to ask properly. However, asking is just part of it. The key ingredient to getting what you ask for is being the type of person people want to help. You can ask all you want, but if you’re not a good person who is sincere, honest and worthy, you will be wasting your time.
My new book, THE POWER OF ASKING: How to ask your way to success, provides knowledge and techniques that you can incorporate into your own life so you can reach your goals.
If you have heard me speak, you know that I never talk to an audience about any subject that I don’t feel they have the ability to accomplish. I use the same approach when I’m sharing information in my books. If I can master the art of asking, then I am confident that you can do it also.
My ultimate goal is to have my current customers create new customers for me. This can be accomplished by learning how to ask for referrals or by convincing customers to use me. For more on this topic, read Chapter 5 in The Power of Asking.
You have most likely heard me say that humans are generally good and they want to help people when they can, but if you don’t ask or don’t know how to ask, then they won’t help you.
The Power of Asking is an easy, quick read that will benefit you right away.
Research has shown that over 50 percent of salespeople fail to ask for the order immediately after giving their presentation. If you don’t ask for the order right away, someone else will fill that gap and you will be left out in the cold. I would never want to be among those 50 percent who didn’t ask when I know I deserve the order just as much as anyone else does. The Power of Asking will give you the tools you need so you have the confidence to feel comfortable asking.
One of the most memorable experiences in my career was when I applied for and asked for my first real, professional job; you can read all about it in Chapter 3. I was told by the receptionist that the company was not hiring and that I should mail in my resume. Well, I don’t want to spoil the rest of the story for you, but I got the job, and it launched a career that has lasted for 34 years and is still going strong.
I have witnessed so many great, honest, and passionate sales and service people who should be reaching their goals and increasing their market share but are missing the mark because they don’t know how to ask. That is the number one reason I wrote this book: to share with you the insights I have gained about how to ask. I am so confident that your life and business will change after reading The Power of Asking that I will give you a 100% refund if you disagree.
There is nothing you can’t do if you learn how to ask respectfully and if you are worthy of your request.
If not you, then who? And if not now, then when?
