TRUE Facts about the benefits of being positive
▪️How many Positives does it take to overcome a negative? To effectively offset all the negatives, we are exposed to every day research suggests we need a minimum of 5 Positives for every negative we hear, see and experience.
▪️Research suggests that a 5:1 ratio of Positive to negative experiences is crucial for mental well-being, with a minimum of three positive experiences needed to counteract one negative one. This balance helps individuals move from feeling simply okay to flourishing.
▪️” Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
▪️In a nationwide survey of over 2,000 workers, 69% indicated that receiving Praise and Recognition was more motivating than money. Four out of five workers said Recognition or Praise Motivated them to do a better job. A Feedback of 5 Positives to 1 negative is a goal for increasing the amount and quality of feedback that we give to others. Positive, or Encouraging Reinforcement makes an individual more likely to perform a behavior again.
▪️The brain naturally has a “negativity bias,” meaning it is more attuned to perceiving and remembering negatives than the Positive ones. This bias can make it seem like negative experiences have a stronger impact, even if the number of Positive experiences is greater. To counteract this bias we need to expose ourselves to more Positives.
One of the many reasons I have been writing these newsletters for the last couple decades is inspirational/Motivational GOOD news are simply to build others up because there are too many people in the demolition business today trying to tear us down. This is just a good reminder of how important being positive is not just for us, but everybody that we meet will benefit because of it. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that your positiveness helped make somebody’s day better or possibly changed somebody’s life. We all have the ability to be positive, so I believe we have the responsibility to make sure we are.
