November 2020 Newsletter Better ME…..Better YOU
Better me… Better you
Most of us never expected that we would experience a pandemic or anything close to it during our lifetime. Most of us also are dealing with new restrictions and a new way of living right now that we never expected. So with all of that being said, we as individuals still have a choice: we can choose to let our circumstances get the best of us or we can make a decision to be the best we can be, in spite of our challenges.
“The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”
— Confucius
I am confident that everyone who is reading this newsletter right now has chosen to have a positive mindset. Why? Because you realize that you have the God-given ability to do anything that you put your mind to. You and I both know that we can have an incredibly great attitude if we want to. I didn’t say it was going to be easy – as we all know, anything with long-term benefits will take some extra effort. Let’s all choose to wake up each morning with the idea of empowering, inspiring, and motivating people to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We can set an example that encourages people to use this time wisely to better ourselves. Adversity creates opportunity.
The pandemic has created financial challenges for a lot of us; however, have faith that this will pass. These challenges are all temporary. Limit your spending; don’t buy things you don’t need. Be as frugal as you possibly can. I love what Rick Warren, the pastor of Saddleback Church in San Diego, said when a reporter asked him why people are so broke. Rick said, “Because people buy things they don’t need with money they don’t have to impress people they really don’t like.” How true is that?
I encourage you to get a piece of paper and a pen and write at the top of the paper three things that you want to work on during this unsettling time. Even if you just pick one thing that you want to become better at, that’s good enough. Think of how many people will benefit because of the choice you made to better yourself instead of complaining.
The more you work on improving yourself, the more you will encourage others to do the same.
“Good, better, best;
never let it rest;
’til your good is better
and your better is best.”
Your past and present do not determine your future. You are the architect of what happens next in your life. You decide, and maybe that decision will not bear fruit for quite some time, but that’s okay because it will happen if you don’t give up. Keep in mind that drive, desire, and determination are extremely important, but none of those assets will make a difference in your life until you make the DECISION to become better.
Remember the old adage, “If it is to be, it is up to me.” Now, more than ever, you need to incorporate this “can do” attitude and mindset into your life. The more you work on yourself, the more you will attract the right kind of people into your life, and the greater the number of the right kind of people in your life, the faster you will get to where you want to go. Iron sharpens iron.
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always be where you’ve always been.” —T.D. Jakes
Work harder on yourself than you do at your job. Why? Because in the long run, if you work on yourself you will do much better at your job. Of all the things that affect your future, personal growth is the most important. The major key to a better you is and always will be YOU and your discipline to work harder!
YOU must take responsibility for where you are in life right now, where you will go, and the future you will create for yourself and your loved ones.
A better you will result in a better everyone. We have nothing to lose by at least trying to do better, and we have everything to gain.
I can help you maintain a positive attitude. I invite you to listen to my podcasts by going to www.vandeeb.com or finding me on Apple or Spotify. Last, but not least, I am available to schedule an online Zoom meeting, webinar, or in-person socially distanced event.
If not now, then when? And if not you, then who?
