March 2022 Newsletter THE 4 D’s of Success
The 4 D’s of Success
If you intend to have a successful career and a rewarding life, you need to have Desire, Drive, Determination, and Discipline. Not only are these four D’s are as important as the air you breathe, but you also have to implement each one on a daily basis.
I am driven to succeed by a desire to accomplish my goals, I am determined to make things happen, and I am disciplined enough to hold myself accountable for my own progress. Without these four D’s, my life would be very different. Understanding and applying these four D’s will help you get to where you want to go.
What do you want out of your time on this earth? Your answer reveals your Desire. To reach your full potential for success, you must have the will to win. To me, that is the same thing as desire. Any success I have experienced can be attributed to my strong desire to succeed. No one else can give you that desire; it must be in your heart and every fiber of your being. Desire is what wakes me up every morning.
“Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.” – Napoleon Hill
Just as desire points you in the right direction, Drive is the fuel that keeps you moving forward. Drive and motivation go hand in hand. You need to be motivated to do anything in life, and not having drive means you have no motivation. People often describe me as a driven person. Why? Because I share my goals, and I let everyone know that I am passionate about selling real estate and helping people become successful. How can I expect anyone to refer me to potential clients if they can’t describe me as a person who is driven to do a good job for them? I believe you should be obsessed with your commitment to your goals. You have to be driven to improve every day.
“There is nothing wrong with being driven, and there is nothing wrong with putting yourself first to reach your goals.” – Shonda Rhimes
How can you make steady progress toward your goals? You must reinforce your intentions through the power of Determination. Repeat this statement several times each day: “I am determined to accomplish my goals and to live my best possible life.” I believe you have to profess your wishes out to the universe every day. Why do I believe that? Because it has worked for me throughout my life. How can you set goals, fulfill your wishes, or accomplish your objectives if you are not determined to make things happen?
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” – Vince Lombardi
I believe that many people are wasting time trying to find the magic sauce to become successful when all they need is determination to take the necessary steps to make things happen. Taking the necessary steps will require W O R K!
I will dive deeper into making the 4 D’s work for you in my March 2022 Podcast. Go to Apple, Spotify, vandeeb.com, or your favorite podcast platform to listen to The Van Deeb Podcast.
Even if you have the other three D’s, you will not succeed if you don’t also have Discipline. You, and you alone, can decide what you will do in order to achieve your goals. The disciplines that you set for yourself must be realistic and attainable. Here are a few examples: get up at 5 instead of 6, go to bed at 9 instead of 10, take shorter lunches, put good fuel in your body instead of alcohol and candy.
Your disciplines must be created by you. Think about what you will need to do every day to accomplish your goals, and then make a list of your disciplines and follow them.
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” –Jim Rohn
So there you have it! If you harness the power of Drive, Desire, Determination, and Discipline, there is nothing you can’t do! When you start doing this, your life will change and the lives of everyone around you will benefit as well…this is a FACT!
If not now, then when? And if not you, then who?
